Blog Post #1 Final Project Idea

Welcome to my AS level Media Studies blog! My Final Project Idea is a basketball movie starring Saquon Ramirez, who is a talented, young athlete who plays for the Bell Creek Cobras AAU and High School team.


*Concept of what player will look like.

 Saquon is so good, he starts to attract attention from bigger schools, specifically the college scout Robert Levy. This attention leads to them coming to a outdoor basketball game where some of Saquon's teammates are there playing with him. After Saquon has a great game and was done celebrating with his teammate after his ankle breaking shot, a college scout approaches him and offers him a spot on the team. Saquon says that he was going to think about it but while he was talking to the coach, his teammates spot him and start to resent him a bit.

 But the Bell Creek Coaches and players see this and become a bit skeptical of Saquon. So throughout the season they stop passing him the ball as much and this confuses Saquon with him starting to regret choosing to go with Bell Creek instead of going to the college team. After a fight that occurs between Saquon and another player on the team named Cody the coach benches him against their rival opponent in the state tournament, this leads to his team losing by 2 in the state tournament to their rival school with him sitting the bench for most of the game. But after the season Saquon gets his team together to discuss why they weren't passing him the ball and they end up saying that it was because they didn't want Saquon to leave so they stopped passing to him as much to lower his chances of going to a better team. Saquon reassured them that he wouldn't leave for any other team.



*Based off how Football Teams meet up and have team meetings


After this event they go out to lunch and have a team bonding experience, then through text they are invited to join the top AAU tournament in the United States. The team is ecstatic and promises Saquon that they will make up for the mistakes they made last season. That AAU season his team faced off against Rutherford and with 5 seconds to go they let Saquon bring the ball up and he shoots from a deep three position and he makes it.

 This caps off the best game of his high school career and it gets him recognized by many NBA scouts. This wins his team the AAU tournament and ends of their season undefeated.

Blog Post #6 Sports in Film

Today I will be analyzing The Longest Yard, which is a Sports Films and how it is good at helping convey the other genres in that film through its different micro elements, specifically Mise-en-Scene. The Longest Yard The Longest Yard is a football movie that is centered around a star quarterback who got into trouble with the law, this getting him arrested. Then this brings up the location which is centered in a prison with the quarterback ("Paul Crewe", The main character) having to put together a football team to compete with the guards of that prison. This is because the prison wants to humiliate the prisoners and make it seem as though they are nothing compared to the guards of the prison, it will also re-assure the public about their prison security and their overall security system.
