Blog Post #42 Behind the scenes: Part Three

Today I will be talking about the second stage in my filming process and how I used camera angles to better depict the scenery and facial expressions of actors.

In my filming process I used a plethora of camera angles in order to convey the ideas and setting of the film to the fullest extent. The uses of camera angles were important as to creating an narrative in the scene too. The research I used helped me with selecting the best possible shots to use to increase the scenery in the scene, the emotions of the characters, and the actions of the characters. The research also helped me become more creative with my shots also this is because of the use of the film "Whiplash's" final two cuts where they went from eye to eye, I was able to incorporate this into my film.

The use of sky shots in my scenes help me display the lighting techniques I was able to use, with natural lighting being the main one. The aerial shots also help with conveying the scenery even further, showing a blue slightly cloudy sky. I mainly used aerial shots in order to convey my title sequence for my film though, this is because it creates a clear and open environment with my title being the main focus.

Also the use of close up shots on the actors faces can help further show and express the emotion in the scene. This can help express the Pathos in the scene, which is the emotions that are evoked in the audience through the facial expressions of the actors, setting in the scene, and the actions of the actors in the scene. For example when I cut between the faces of the two players when they were playing it allowed for mt to better incorporate their emotions through the use of close up shots.
